The simplest tips on teaching your little ones Halloween etiquette.

If you are taking your children out to collect treats on Halloween, here are a few simple tips that teach them how to behave and express good manners. Some of these things you know, but knowing now will help you later.

1. Make sure they understand that they are to say please, thank you, and you're welcome throughout the process, even if they don't like the candy or treat given to them.

2. Teach them to wait their turn and to take only what the giver is offering. They need to understand that other children have to share in the treats too.

3. Guide them to respect the lawns of neighbors and to walk on the sidewalks.

These three simple tips appear persnickety and even basic, but they are important for them to know now and later. As a father, I want my children to be respectful and polite even on the busiest kids night of the year.
